Reflection of a True Master is a special monthly series which sees us dive into the minds of the true Masters of the EPL. This week, we take a look at Marcus Rashford.
Having gone through a fallow patch in front of goal not too long ago, the 22-year-old has turned his fortunes around since the restart of the English Premier League (EPL), and is now one of the first names on the Manchester United team-sheet.
But it’s not just on the pitch that the Englishman has made an impact. Off it, Rashford has earned the respect and praise of many, following his efforts to combat child poverty in England.
Using his influence as a star of one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Rashford successfully campaigned in June for the government to allow about 1.3 million children to claim free school meal vouchers over the summer holidays.
For that achievement, the Englishman will be awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester – making him the youngest person to ever receive the accolade. Other noteworthy football personalities who have received the award from the university include United legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.
WATCH: Solskjaer is "proud" of Dr Rashford
And while we at FBS have no such prestigious award to bestow upon Rashford, we can at least make him our pick for this edition of Star-Track.
FBS says: Training, playing and scoring for Manchester United while fighting against child poverty requires immense strength. Is it any surprise then that Rashford’s arms are so ripped? Watch out, Dwayne Johnson!
FBS says: With such a sweet and beguiling smile, it’s no wonder Rashford was able to charm the English government into providing free school meals for underprivileged children. Even Roy Keane would melt.
FBS says: Like every United fan out there, Rashford still can’t get his head wrapped around the fact that the world class midfield duo of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba were both signed under Ed Woodward’s watch.
FBS says: Rashford’s reaction when he scores a goal/helps United to a win/receives a doctorate/feeds 1.3 million underprivileged children*. When you have that many accomplishments to celebrate, you know you’ve made it in life. Well done, Dr Rashford.
