Vardy’s doing whatever he can to be the best striker in the EPL

Nobody really expected Jamie Vardy to continue banging in the goals after Leicester City’s title-winning season in 2016.

Labelled a ‘one season wonder’, many thought the ex-England international’s prowess in front of goal would decline dramatically once he reached the age of 30, and especially after his partner-in-crime Riyad Mahrez left the Foxes for Manchester City in 2018.

Vardy, however, has continued to prove his detractors wrong by putting opposition defences to the sword time and again with his blistering pace and unerring eye for goal. Rumour has it that Southampton’s defenders are still unable to sleep after being tormented by Vardy and his team-mates in their infamous 9-0 defeat to Leicester.

And Vardy has shown no signs of slowing down this season, with the 32-year-old currently battling with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Tammy Abraham and Raheem Sterling for the Golden Boot.

What’s his secret? Nobody knows for sure, although we think it’s probably just down to a good old-fashioned mix of hard work, dietary control and quality rest.

But perhaps his presence on social media might give us a better idea as to how he keeps himself sharp, and so it is to Vardy who we at FBS will turn our attention for this week’s Star-Track.

FBS says: Vardy knows it’s important to unwind after battling hard on the pitch. Here, he has a little fun with his family, as they all dress up as the Addams Family for Halloween. Vardy, of course, is dressed as the family’s patriarch Gomez – or as he is known on the pitch, Goalmez.

FBS says: Vardy likes to keep warm and snug, even during training. Wears a comically oversized beanie so as to distract people from noticing the bulge in his pants. Evidently extremely excited at the prospect of scoring.

FBS says: Vardy does not look happy, probably because he’s not used to sitting on the bench. Wants to be playing all the time so that he can keep the momentum going. Or maybe he’s just trying to remember if he left the kettle on at home before heading out.

FBS says: To get the better of defenders, strikers will sometimes need to utilise the dark arts of attacking. Here, Vardy practises holding a ‘defender’ by his head and shoulders so as to prevent him from jumping for headers. Doesn’t care about VAR. Only cares about Vardy.
