Liverpool's dark magic to run out against Man City's blue moon
The 21-year-old is one of the few players to have emerged with his reputation intact, if not improved. He’s been so impressive that there have been calls for him to be a first-team regular.
The beleaguered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has at least been able to recognise the quality Tuanzebe showed, by handing him the captain’s armband in a cup game ahead of several senior players. Which was a huge surprise, considering that the Norwegian’s all-time favourite player Jesse Lingard was in the starting lineup too.
The young defender followed that up with assured performances against Arsenal and Newcastle.
We at Football Siao find out how Tuanzebe has coped with the spotlight now firmly on him.
FBS says: Tuanzebe pointing to his name on the United team-sheet to reassure a fan that Ashley Young will not be playing. Could not, however, promise that Jesse Lingard would also be dropped to the bench, which explains the fan’s half-smile.
FBS: Tuanzebe finally realises he has to carry his team-mates on his back this season, and so has decided to put in extra effort in the gym. Forces himself to smile now because he knows there won’t otherwise be any reason for him to do so when he’s on the pitch.
FBS says: Tuanzebe knows that there’s only so much he can do to help United. Has begun turning to a higher power to guide United out of their slump. Secretly also prays for a better club to buy him during the next transfer window.
FBS says: Tuanzebe knows his time in football may come to a premature end if he continues to play in such a terrible United team. Has therefore already prepared a Plan B for himself.
