EPL Round-up: Pulisic shines bright for Chelsea, Jamie VAR-dy denies resurgent Arsenal
That’s right – despite Ed Woodward’s best efforts to bungle the transfer, midfield extraordinaire Bruno Fernandes WILL join United after all.
Bruno’s arrival could not have come soon enough for United fans – not least because it’ll likely signal the beginning of the end of Jesse Lingard’s time at Old Trafford.
At the very least, it should help United fans get over the disappointment of not signing Sander Berge, even though that transfer was never really on the cards anyway.
And for those who think the signing of Bruno is underwhelming…
Maybe you’ll change your mind after knowing that Barcelona were reported to also be interested in signing the Portuguese international. Or maybe not.
But United weren’t the only active club in the transfer market in the last 24 hours. Arsenal, too, have announced the loan signing of centre-back Pablo Mari from Flamengo.
And it seems they’re not stopping there. Presumably having seen his jet-black hair sprout a few grey ones after a few weeks of having to play error-prone defenders like Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz and Sead Kolasinac, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking at bringing in yet another defender in Southampton full-back Cedric Soares before the January transfer window closes.
Well, the Gunners will certainly need all the defensive reinforcement they can get in order to stop their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who have secured the signing of exciting winger Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven.
But the transfer story of the day undoubtedly has to go to Everton, who reportedly rejected a whopping £85million (S$150m) bid from Barcelona for striker Richarlison.
And that's edition of our EPL transfer roundup. Let's end it quietly, with another trip to Stamford Bridge…
