Man Utd's Rashford gets injured, but Liverpool fans aren't falling for it at all
After all, the 24-year-old was made to look like Jesse Lingard by Liverpool’s defence during the game, while the result means that City are now a whopping nine points behind the Reds in the EPL.
And Sterling reportedly tried to take his frustrations out on Liverpool defender Joe Gomez when the two met at England’s training base this morning (SGT).
According to reports, Sterling grabbed Gomez by the neck and asked “you still the big man?” – the irony of which is not lost on us here at FBS, given that Gomez has a 17cm height advantage over Sterling.
Given that both players had also clashed on the pitch during the Liverpool vs City game, we can probably assume that Sterling has had Gomez on his mind for the past 24 hours.
But, if Sterling thought that squaring up to Gomez was a good idea (we really cannot stress enough how you shouldn’t go up against someone as big as Gomez when you’re the size of Sterling), he was sorely mistaken.
Because as a result of the altercation, England manager Gareth Southgate has decided to drop Sterling from their Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro on Friday morning (SGT).
England fans, however, need not worry that this incident will see Sterling dropped from the Three Lions for good. The Man City star has already apologised for his outburst, and says that he and Gomez “are good” with each other.
That is, of course, until the next Liverpool vs Man City game. But maybe next time, pick on someone your own size eh, Sterling?
