Elon Musk reveals he was only ‘joking’ about buying Manchester United

It seems that everyone, including eccentric billionaires, are making Manchester United the butt of their jokes these days.

The latest ‘joke’ at the expense of United and their tortured fanbase came from none other than the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, who on Wednesday morning (SGT) went on Twitter to tease the potential purchase of the Red Devils. Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla, was rumoured to have been interested in United due to the space he saw in United’s midfield last weekend.

However, Musk subsequently came out to quash United fans’ hopes of acquiring a ‘sugar daddy’ owner, as he clarified on his personal news portal Twitter: “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I'm not buying any sports teams. Although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav (sic) team as a kid.”

Musk’s rejection of the Old Trafford outfit is just another stab in the heart of the United fanbase, who has already had to contend with the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Jurriën Timber, and Frenkie de Jong decline to join the English Premier League’s (EPL) current cellar-dwellers.

And it appears that even Juventus reject Adrien Rabiot has turned down the chance to join United, owing to the Manchester club refusing to give in to the Frenchman’s ‘obscene’ wage demands.

United are now reportedly in talks to sign Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, while the likes of PSV Cody Gakpo and Atletico Madrid's Alvaro Morata are understood to be viewed as potential purchases for a club that appears, with each passing day, to be throwing darts at a random list of names to decide on their next transfer target.
