Arsenal does a Spurs and sack manager Emery

Arsenal, who have been behind their hated rivals Tottenham Hotspur for several seasons now, have now followed Spurs’ strategy of saving their season - by sacking Unai Emery just one week after Spurs parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing at all for the Gunners this season and the latest defeat on Friday morning (SGT) in the Europa League - 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt - appeared to be the final nail in the coffin for Emery.

Freddie Ljungberg - who was a member of the fabled Invincibles squad - will take over as caretaker manager.

Unlike Pochettino’s sacking, which was largely met with derision by Spurs fans, Emery’s departure seem to have an opposite effect.

The news is clearly welcomed by Arsenal fans everywhere.

And they are really celebrating the news.

On the other hand, fans of rival clubs aren’t enjoying it as much.

We are guessing this is what Emery had to say the moment he found out that he had been sacked.

Here’s a look at a dejected Emery walking out of his office at the Emirates Stadium for the very last time.

And to the next Arsenal manager, we hope you don’t make the same mistake as Emery did.
